Having played drums like a demon from the age of twelve, audiences have been shocked and mesmerised to learn that Ash Acid has now started a new project and is now a lead vocalist. Though co-writing was always a strength and a favoured activity, the step-up to being a front woman truly transformed the rock drummer to a songwriting and singing talent with emerging and inimitable producing skills. Homebrew on PBS FM was one of the standout community radio programs to play the grungy, pop rocker and introduce audiences to her new guise. Having released four singles and three video clips, the Naarm artist's most recent track "I Love Myself" was fortunate enough to garner spins in the UK on Amazing Radio and Rock Radio UK as well as in Germany, Quebec and Philadelphia (US). Ash toured this track in January this year to Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra and her hometown, Melb/Narrm with a live band. Originally growing up on a farm on the outskirts of Sunbury, very close to Wildwood, in Victoria, Australia, a young Ash Acid first travelled overseas to Europe on a tour with six other women. It was a garage punk band and the year was 2010. Playing drums in a faux leather catsuit on the last leg of the tour, she remembers fondly the feeling of “wanting to tour forever.” That feeling is still a flame burning strong, as we wait and watch to see this next chapter of this talented artist’s journey.
